Ingredients needed for farmer’s pot

  • 2 onions
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 2 carrots
  • 20 g olive oil
  • 500 g potatoes, cut into cubes
  • 2 red peppers
  • 1 tin of chopped tomatoes (400 g)
  • 400 ml vegetable stock (or 400 ml water and 2 teaspoons vegetable stock)
  • 1 teaspoon each of salt / marjoram / herbs de Provence
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika (alternatively sweet paprika)
  • 2 pinches of pepper
  • 300 g minced meat mixed or beef

To garnish:

  • Crème fraîche
  • fresh parsley

How to make farmer’s pot

Preparation:

Peel and quarter the onions. Peel and halve the garlic.

Peel the carrots and cut into large pieces.

Put everything into the mixing bowl and 5 sec. / Chop level 6.

Add the oil and 3 min. / 120° / level 1 steam.

In the meantime, wash and deseed the peppers and cut into bite-sized pieces.

Peel and dice the potatoes.
Then add the remaining ingredients, except for the minced meat, to the mixing bowl and 25 min. / 100° / counterclockwise rotation / level 1 cooking.

Note: The potatoes should be completely covered with liquid.

Meanwhile, place the mince in a hot pan, season with salt and pepper and fry until crumbly.

After 25 minutes, check that the potatoes are cooked.

Depending on the kind of potato and the size of the potato pieces, they may need a few minutes longer.

Finally, season to taste and add more seasoning if necessary, add the minced meat and stir in with a wooden spoon.

Serve in bowls and garnish with a tablespoon of crème fraîche and fresh parsley.

Notes

You can also use more vegetables and/or potatoes. Then adjust the amount of water. The potatoes should always be covered with liquid.
Corn and (white) beans also go well in a farmer’s pot. These are then added through the lid opening in the last 5 minutes of the cooking time.
Serve with fresh bread or baguette.
