My Best Baking Tips

Not a fan of cinnamon? Just leave it out!

Feel free to fold some raisins or chocolate chips right into the batter for a fun twist.

Serve it plain, dusted with powdered sugar, or drizzled with caramel sauce.

Thanks to the fresh apples, this cake stays soft and moist for days.

Be sure to use room-temperature ingredients so your batter bakes up nice and fluffy.

Dice the apples into small, uniform cubes so they disperse evenly throughout the cake.

Roughly chop the walnuts to add a wonderful crunch to every bite.

If the cake starts browning too quickly while baking, just tent it loosely with aluminum foil.

Let the cake cool completely before removing it from the pan.

Serve this cake with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream—it’s extra delicious that way!

Store the cake in an airtight container to keep it fresh and moist.

Can You Make This Cake Ahead of Time and Store It?

How to store: This cake stores wonderfully! Keep it in an airtight container at room temperature, and it will stay soft and moist for 3 to 4 days.

How to freeze: You can totally freeze this cake, too! Just slice it into individual pieces and wrap each slice tightly in plastic wrap. It will keep in the freezer for up to 3 months. When you’re ready to enjoy a slice, simply let it thaw at room temperature.

Easy Recipe Variations

Swap the nuts: Feel free to swap the walnuts for hazelnuts, sliced almonds, or pecans.

Add dried fruit: Toss in a handful of raisins, dried cranberries, or chopped dates.

Make it chocolatey: Fold some chocolate chips or a tablespoon of cocoa powder into the batter.

Add a glaze: Drizzle a simple lemon or chocolate glaze over the cooled cake for a sweet finish.

How to Make Cinnamon Apple Walnut Cake

Instructions:

First, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) conventional heat.

Next, peel and core the apples, then chop them into small dices.

Add the softened butter, sugar, vanilla sugar, and eggs to the mixing bowl and blend for 1 min / speed 5.

Pro-Tip: Forgot to set your butter out ahead of time? No worries! You can still use cold butter—just set your machine to 1 min / 120°F (50°C) / speed 5.

Then, add the flour, baking powder, and cinnamon. Mix for another 30 sec / speed 5 until you have a smooth, luscious batter.

Finally, add the chopped apples and walnuts to the mixing bowl and gently fold them in using a spatula.

Line the bottom of your springform pan with parchment paper, pour in the batter, and bake on the lower rack of your oven for 1 hour.

If the top starts browning too quickly, loosely tent it with aluminum foil.

Enjoy!
