My Top Recipe Tips

Make sure to dice the bell pepper pretty small so it softens up quickly while steaming and blends seamlessly into the sauce.

For the turkey, aim to slice the strips about ¾-inch thick. This keeps them super juicy and tender while cooking perfectly in the Varoma® without drying out.

Spread the turkey strips evenly across both the Varoma® dish and tray so the steam can circulate freely.

Don’t forget to turn on Reverse Mode for that final step! It’s super important so your perfectly cooked turkey doesn’t get shredded by the blades when mixed into the sauce.

Can you make this ahead and store leftovers?

Yes, this turkey skillet is fantastic for meal prep! In fact, it often tastes even better the next day after all those delicious flavors in the sauce have had time to meld together.

Just transfer your leftovers into an airtight container and store them in the fridge. They’ll keep wonderfully for a day or two.

To reheat, simply pop it in the microwave for a minute or two, or warm it gently in a pot over medium heat.

Delicious Recipe Variations

Mix up the sides: This creamy red sauce is super versatile! Serve your turkey over fluffy rice, your favorite pasta, or even simple boiled potatoes.

Pick your mushrooms: White button or cremini (baby bella) mushrooms both work great here. I love using cremini mushrooms for a slightly richer, earthier flavor!

How to Make Turkey Strips in Creamy Red Sauce

Instructions:

First, peel the onion and garlic. Quarter the onion and leave the garlic clove whole. Wash and seed the bell pepper, then cut it into small dice. Clean the mushrooms and halve or quarter them.

Add the onion and garlic to the mixing bowl and chop for 5 sec / speed 5. Scrape down the sides of the bowl with your spatula.

Add the oil, diced bell pepper, and mushrooms. Sauté for 3 min / 120°C (250°F) / reverse / speed 1.

Next, add the vegetable broth, heavy cream, tomato paste, cream cheese, paprika, fresh thyme leaves, salt, and a pinch of black pepper to the mixing bowl. Mix for 5 sec / reverse / speed 3.

Cut the turkey breast into strips about 3/4-inch thick. Arrange the turkey strips in the Varoma® dish and on the tray insert. Place the Varoma® on top of the mixing bowl lid and cook for 22 min / Varoma® / reverse / speed 2.

Once cooked, carefully remove the Varoma®. Add the cornstarch to the mixing bowl and stir in for 10 sec / reverse / speed 3.

Transfer the cooked turkey strips from the Varoma® into the mixing bowl and simmer together with the sauce for 4 min / 100°C (210°F) / reverse / speed 1.
