How to Make Chicken Gyros with Bell Peppers and Mushrooms
Prep Work:
Peel and quarter the onion.
Wash, seed, and slice the bell peppers into strips.
Clean the mushrooms with a soft brush (or damp paper towel), trim the stem ends, and slice.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
First, place the onion and garlic clove into the mixing bowl and chop for 5 sec/speed 5.
Use the spatula to scrape down the sides of the bowl, then repeat the process once more.
Add the oil and sauté for 3 min / 120°C (250°F) / Speed 1.
Next, add the sliced chicken and cook for 7 min / 100°C (212°F) / Reverse / Gentle Stirring Speed.
Next, add the water and spices (salt, gyros seasoning, paprika, and black pepper) to the mixing bowl.
Place the prepped bell pepper strips and sliced mushrooms into the Varoma® tray, cover with the Varoma® lid, and cook for 35 min / Varoma® / Reverse / Gentle Stirring Speed.
Remove the Varoma® and set it aside.
Whisk the cornstarch with a splash of cold water until smooth, then add it to the mixing bowl along with the tomato paste and sour cream. Cook for 3 min / Varoma® / Reverse / Gentle Stirring Speed to bring to a simmer.
Finally, transfer the bell peppers and mushrooms from the steam tray into the mixing bowl and gently stir everything together.
