My Top Recipe Tips

Instead of dark chocolate, you can also swap in 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. It adds a lovely warm flavor and a subtle touch of sweetness to your chili.

You can serve this Chili con Carne with all kinds of delicious sides—think fluffy white rice, warm tortillas, a fresh side salad, or just a piece of good crusty bread.

Chili is super easy to scale up for a crowd, keeps wonderfully, and reheats like a dream. That makes it a total winner for game days, casual parties, potlucks, or New Year’s Eve!

Feel free to swap out the ground beef for a beef/pork blend, ground turkey, or ground chicken.

Prefer a meatier texture? You can also use finely diced beef chuck instead of ground meat.

You can totally customize the spice level to fit your family’s taste! If you’re feeding kids, feel free to hold back on or skip the chili powder altogether. Don’t worry—it still tastes amazingly flavorful without the extra heat! 🙂

  • Crème fraîche
  • Sour cream
  • Shredded cheese (freshly grated is best!)

Can you make Chili con Carne ahead of time?

Absolutely! You can easily make this dish a day ahead. Just pop it into an airtight container and keep it in the fridge until you’re ready to serve.

Honestly, chili tastes even better the next day once all those delicious flavors have had time to meld together.

To reheat, simply pour the chili into a pot, cover with a lid, and warm it up slowly over medium-low heat.

Leftover chili con carne will keep in an airtight container in the fridge for 2 to 3 days.

Want to save it for later? It freezes like a dream! Just store it in a freezer-safe container, and it’ll stay good in the freezer for several months.

How to Make Chili con Carne

Prep Work:

Wash and seed the bell peppers, then cut them into rough chunks.

Peel the onions and garlic, then cut the onions into quarters.

Rinse the kidney beans thoroughly under cool running water.

Drain the corn in a colander.

Instructions:

Add the onion and garlic cloves to the mixing bowl and chop for 5 sec / speed 5. Scrape down the sides of the bowl with your spatula and repeat if needed.
Next, add the bell pepper pieces to the mixing bowl and chop for 2 sec / speed 5.
Add the olive oil and sauté for 5 min / 120°C (250°F) / speed 1.
Stir in the tomato paste and cook for 3 min / 120°C (250°F) / speed 1.
Now add the diced tomatoes, water, beef broth, and spices (sweet paprika, spicy paprika, cumin, and chili powder). Cook for 20 min / 100°C (212°F) / speed 1.
While that simmers, brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat.
When the timer goes off, add the browned beef, kidney beans, corn, and chocolate to the mixing bowl. Give it a quick stir with your spatula, then cook for another 5 min / 100°C (212°F) / reverse mode / soft stir.
Finally, season with salt and pepper to taste.

Feel free to kick up the heat with an extra dash of chili powder if you like it spicy!
Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Enjoy!
